A step in the right direction

Angle Ring has always been at the forefront of new concepts, and 2004 is no exception with its 3 dimensional bending abilities.

Typically where a section is required for a helical or spiral staircase spine or stringer the bend would be achieved through fabrication of thin flat plate stringers, which would then be welded to form the sections required.

Now however, Angle Ring is able to bend structural sections into spirals opening up new scope for staircase design and construction.

Paul Middleton from Angle Ring stated The new capacity for 3 dimensional bending opens new possibilities for architects and engineers

Examples are the Next Generation leisure club (shown) at Brierley Hill, West Midlands, which consists of 230x90 PFC sections curved to form the inner and outer stringers.

Using structural sections allows much longer spans, without the need for vertical supports, opening the normally redundant space below.

This allows stunning designs to become a reality without the cost normally associated with helical or spiral stairs.

Tubes, Channels, Beams, RHS and Plate can all be spiralled in sizes to suit your application.

Sizes currently available as spirals:-

Beam up to 406x140 UB

Channel up to 430x100 PFC

Tube up to 914mm diameter

RHS up to 300x100 RHS or 430x200 fabricated RHS

Plate up to 200mm thick.
